Semple Fraser makes a significant move in the insolvency market
As the credit crunch continues to constrict financial markets, Semple Fraser makes a move in the increasingly active insolvency and restructuring market with the appointment of Gordon Hollerin as a Partner to lead its specialist Insolvency and Corporate Recovery team.
This key appointment comes at a time when the UK economy has been shaken by the credit crunch and the consequent spectre of higher interest rates and restrictions on the availability of credit. This has resulted in an upturn in the insolvency and corporate recovery market.
Gordon will bring with him Solicitor, Fiona Carlin, and joins Jennifer Antonelli , a dedicated insolvency professional who recently obtained JIEB qualifications, and Partner, Scott Kerr . The team acts for a diverse range of clients nationwide including government departments, banks, insolvency practitioners and businesses of all sizes as well as individual clients.
Commenting on his appointment, Gordon said,
“I am really looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to the firm’s growth and success. This is an increasingly active and complex marketplace which the firm is extremely well placed to serve. The ambitious team has already made strong headway and I am thrilled to be joining them.”
Managing Partner, Alister Fraser, added:
“It is fantastic news that Gordon and Fiona are joining us – I believe that we can kick on from here and seize a bigger portion of this highly complex and specialist market-place. Although this appointment comes at a time of economic uncertainty, it reflects our long game. We’re building an outfit to compete with the best for the best work and the best clients and Gordon’s appointment will enhance both capability and scale.”
Gordon has over 25 years of experience and joins the firm from DLA Piper where he was Head of the Litigation and Regulatory Team. He was also previously Managing Partner of DLA Piper in Scotland and prior to that was Managing Partner and Head of Litigation at Bird Semple.
