New tax specialist bolsters Semple Fraser's commercial property offering
Alastair Johnston has recently joined Semple Fraser as a Senior Tax Advisor.
Alastair joins the firm after working for a number of the “Big 4” accountancy firms. Previously an HM Inspector of Taxes, he brings with him 16 years of experience and an in-depth knowledge of taxation matters on property transactions including Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) and VAT.
In the face of the new SDLT regime and the ever growing anti-avoidance of rules on VAT, Alastair will offer clients advice to keep them on the right side of the constant changes in the taxation of property deals.
Alastair also has a vast knowledge of corporate tax planning for acquisitions and disposals and will be a key advisor on all corporate tax issues for the firm.
This new appointment consolidates and strengthens Semple Fraser's existing tax advisory capability and reinforces the firm’s commitment to providing depth as well as breadth of knowledge and experience in commercial property.
