Semple Fraser Announces 7 Trainee Appointments

Leading multinational law firm Semple Fraser today announces the appointment of seven trainees across the firm.

Alison Begg, Amber Heaney and Sarah Tavernor  join the firm’s award winning commercial property department, ranked again in the top tier by The Legal 500 directory published just last week.  The trainees will be working with lawyers who act for clients such as Tesco Stores Ltd, the Peel Group, Threadneedle Property Investments, Business Homes-CALA, and the UNITE Group.

Hollie Dilasser and Claire Higgins join the firm’s impressive construction team, also praised by The Legal 500 for its ‘rapid response times and expertise‘, and known for work such as advising Sir Robert McAlpine and Taylor Woodrow in a high-profile £10m dispute relating to the upgrading of the M74.

The litigation group, one of the busiest groups within the firm, is joined by trainee Danielle McLaughlin.  The team, praised by clients as being ‘relentless litigators who will go to the ends of the earth for their clients’ act for blue chip clients such as Zurich, Hanover Property Unit Trust and the Marylebone Warwick Balfour Group and advise on both general commercial disputes as well as real estate litigation.

Rachel Trotman will join the firm’s renowned environment group later this month, noted by The Legal 500 as the 'leading environmental law team in Scotland’, and will work alongside two of the most respected environmental lawyers in the UK.

Semple Fraser offers a unique trainee scheme. Instead of circulating trainees around the various parts of the business, the firm adopts a fixed-seat approach, which gives trainees the opportunity to focus right away on a specific area of the law – getting experience that they would otherwise have to wait for until they qualified. This approach provides them with a depth of knowledge that ensures that when they qualify they are head and shoulders above their peers.

Managing Partner, Alister Fraser, comments:

“Most of these trainees have come through our summer placement scheme, so we already have an appreciation of their capability and enthusiasm.  Our focus on developing our staff, along with our unique approach to our trainee scheme, will ensure that as the economy moves out of recession, we will remain to be in the best position to offer clients the high quality expert service they have come to expect from Semple Fraser.”
