Peel JV to undertake one of the largest regeneration projects in Scotland
Acted for the Peel Group in the creation of a joint venture with the urban regeneration company Riverside Inverclyde. The joint venture will undertake one of the largest-ever regeneration projects in Scotland which will be delivered via a new limited liability partnership between Riverside Inverclyde and Peel.
The £180m regeneration of Greenock’s James Watt Dock, once the heart of Scotland’s sugar refining industry, will see the creation of state-of-the-art commercial, residential and marina facilities set alongside modern residential and retail space. The project is scheduled to be completed around 2020.
In preparation for the project Semple Fraser dealt with the transfer of the James Watt Dock site from Clydeport to the LLP. The Semple Fraser team dealt with the establishment of the LLP and advised Peel on the corporate, property, construction and environmental aspects of the joint venture arrangements with Riverside Inverclyde.
