Semple Fraser specialist teams celebrate promotions success

Following a year of intense deals activity, continued growth and a focus on key market sectors, leading multinational law firm, Semple Fraser, today announces the promotions of three solicitors to Associates. Stacey Smyth and Claire McPherson are specialists in the thriving construction team and Alix Wotherspoon is an expert in the booming planning team.

Stacey started with the firm as a trainee in 2001 and upon qualifying joined the firm’s specialist Construction Team. She advises clients on a variety of construction issues, including providing construction advice in relation to various shopping centre acquisitions and disposals throughout the UK. She also has expertise in adjudications and represented Sir Robert McAlpine regarding the procurement process for the new Scottish Parliament building.

Having joined the firm less than two years ago, Claire’s promotion to Associate recognises her involvement in major client projects, most notably advising Tesco Stores Limited as part of their ongoing expansion programme. She also offers construction advice to a number of the firm’s clients involved in the Clydeside Regeneration project and was recently involved in the purchase and subsequent sale of the £184m St James Centre in Edinburgh which won Scottish Property Awards Deal of the Year.

The Planning Team also celebrates as Alix Wotherspoon is promoted to Associate. Alix has considerable experience advising on all aspects of planning law and has advised on some of the firms flagship deals including the sale of the Eastgate Centre in Inverness, the acquisition of the St James Centre in Edinburgh and the Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow.

Semple Fraser’s Managing Partner, Alister Fraser comments,
