Semple Fraser clients impress judges at Scottish Property Awards
The Scottish Property Awards organised by Property Week, and hosted in Glasgow this week, featured the who’s-who of the commercial property industry and proved successful yet again for Semple Fraser clients.
The acquisition of the St James Centre by Donegall Place Investments won “Deal of the Year”. Semple Fraser acted for Donegall in the acquisition of the centre which was one of the largest deals of its kind in Scotland in recent years. It comprises a large shopping centre, the St James House office block, the 147-bed Thistle Hotel, three car parks and the John Lewis department store and took the form of a Jersey Property Unit Trust ("JPUT").
Another nomination in this category was the sale of the Eastgate Centre in Inverness. The sale was the culmination of over 9 years involvement by Semple Fraser with Easgate Centre acting for Phoenix Life & Pensions Ltd, and involved the acquisition, development, lettings, and sale of Inverness’ main shopping centre.
Kenmore Property Group’s Sentinel building was nominated for “Development of the Year”. Semple Fraser acted in the site acquisition and development of the building in Glasgow’s Financial Services District and has concluded a number of significant lettings for them over the past few months.
In the “Up and Coming Property Business” category, Semple Fraser client, Kintyre LLP were nominated by the judges. Kintyre is a private property company established in 2001 and is active in the UK commercial property investment market both on its own and with joint venture partners.
