Delivery of Public Sector Infrastructure and Services – Where Next?

While there is considerable debate surrounding methods of procurement and financing, it is still expected that around 200 projects with a combined value approaching £20bn will come on stream over the next five years and so the need to continue developing key public sector infrastructure, however that is achieved, is evident.  Commitments to meet key targets in areas such as waste management and recycling means that securing infrastructure development at the best value for the public purse remains high on the political agenda for both central and devolved governments.

In addition to the familiar requirements for schools, hospitals and prisons, new areas such as waste, estate rationalisation, community healthcare and urban regeneration are likely to see an increased focus.

This Briefing, produced by Semple Fraser’s Projects Group, looks at some of the areas that are likely to drive activity over the coming period as well as how such projects might be delivered.
