SDLT Changes from 1st December 2008
SDLT came into effect on 1st December 2003, and so its 5th anniversary is upon us. While Property Industry players and their advisers are now well acquainted with this tax, it's unlikely many will be wishing it a hapy birthday.
However it is not a birthday the Industry can afford to miss. The attached briefing details some of the surprises HMRC have in store for us.
For the time being property company SPVs can still be tax-efficient, because there is still only ½% SD on the purchase of shares.
