Semple Fraser staff help make a difference to orphan and abandoned children’s charity
Semple Fraser has recently presented a cheque to their corporate charity, SOS Children's Village, for an impressive £11,299.
SOS Children is the world’s largest orphan and abandoned children’s charity with over 78,000 children cared for in Children’s Villages across 124 countries. Semple Fraser’s donation has been specifically earmarked for SOS Children's Village Basse in The Gambia where they currently have the greatest need. The firm’s contribution will cover education costs for all the children for two years.
Semple Fraser is committed to making a real difference through our approach to corporate social responsibility. In addition to the firm’s corporate charity, Semple Fraser takes part in the Paired Reading Partners programme developed by Learning and Teaching Scotland, which helps schools in Glasgow and Edinburgh boost child literacy levels. The firm is also involved with the Pilotlight organisation, a charity that addresses the needs of small and ambitious charities working to alleviate disadvantage, to help a greater number of people, more effectively. Through this organisation, we are currently assisting the Theatre Nemo charity, a campaigning theatre company and charity that gives a voice to social issues, especially mental health, through the performing arts. Semple Fraser is also working with the Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) to provide a free advice helpline.
Human Resources Director, Ian Anderson, comments:
“All of our staff are encouraged to become involved in charity and community activity as part of the ethical and outward-looking approach underpinning our corporate social responsibilities. Our recent contribution to SOS is from all of our staff who have actively participated in the scheme through various events organised by the firm such as sponsored themed lunches, ‘dress down days’, auctions, team events and charity walks.”
