Scottish Futures Trust
In its manifesto before the last election, the SNP pledged to replace PFI as the preferred model for funding public sector infrastructure projects with the so-called Scottish Futures Trust (SFT), based on the Scottish Government raising funds on the bond markets.
Now that the SNP is in power (albeit as a minority government) the purpose of this Briefing is to explore the proposals for a Scottish Futures Trust that have now emerged and to reflect, in particular, on whether it is indeed the ‘cure’ for what is alleged to ail infrastructure funding in Scotland.
