Semple Fraser announces £15m turnover in 2006/2007

Semple Fraser has unveiled it’s financial results, announcing £15m annual turnover for 2006/2007, up 15% from last year with profits advancing by 17%.

The firm has been involved in a wide range of high value, flagship UK transactions over the past 12 months continuing to concentrate on a strategy which focuses on half a dozen industries – commercial property, construction and engineering, waste, extractive, banking and finance, and projects.

As Semple Fraser’s penetration of these markets continues, a number of high profile new client wins have been secured. Acting for clients such as Standard Commercial Property Securities Ltd, Sir Robert McAlpine, Land Securities Group PLC, OSS Group as well as the European Commission, is testament to the firm’s operation on a major scale.

Enthusiasm and professionalism of the lawyers at Semple Fraser has been fundament to the success of the strategy. The past year has seen staff figures grow by 12% as well as seeing the firm successfully establish two new commercial property teams. With English business now accounting for well over 20% of the firm’s income, one of the new teams is dedicated to serving the firm’s English clients and further expanding capability in that area.

In addition to this, further significant internal promotions have been made this year. Three solicitors in the specialist planning and construction teams were promoted to Associates, Barry Love was promoted to a Partner in the Environment Group and Alastair Johnston was promoted to Head of Tax.

Managing Partner, Alister Fraser comments:

''We don’t claim to be experts in every area of law, but in the areas in which we specialise and for the Chosen Markets that we focus on, we believe that we excel. Our talented lawyers have a thorough understanding of these industries and the pressures they face and this formula serves us well. I am confident that next year the firm will grow further concentrating on these markets and capitalising on growth opportunities across the UK.''
