Alastair Johnston is Head of Tax at Semple Fraser.  He is a Chartered Tax Adviser and joined the firm in 2004 after working for “Big 4” accountancy firms.  Previously an HM Inspector of Taxes, he has over 20 years of experience and an in-depth knowledge of taxation matters including property transactions and tax planning for corporate acquisitions and disposals.

In the face of the anti-avoidance rules on SDLT and the ever more complex VAT regime, Alastair is able to offer clients advice to keep them on the right side of the constant changes in the taxation of property deals. 

Alastair advises the majority of the firm’s large property clients on tax planning issues, including Tesco Stores, Clydeport, Threadneedle / Zurich Assurance, British Land, Kenmore and UNITE Group.
