Alex joined Semple Fraser as a Partner in 2001 and is a highly skilled commercial lawyer who stars in complex, demanding transactions.  He is ranked as a Leading Individual by the legal directories and described as “dedicated, personable and refreshingly direct”.

Qualified in both Scots and English law, Alex successfully combines his experience of real estate, corporate and banking law to advise on highly complex corporate real estate structures, and this has enabled the firm to become one of the leading advisers in this area of the UK market.

He is the Head of the Finance Group and has extensive experience in advising UK clearing banks and other financial institutions in connection with various types of facilities (including syndicated facilities and equity investments), and securities.  This banking knowledge has also enabled him to advise clients on the most appropriate structure to help them to obtain funding and provide effective security.   Alex also has significant experience in transactions involving offshore investments and corporate structures – often these involve a combination of limited partnerships, foreign companies and unit trusts to ensure that the structure is as tax efficient as possible.

Alex’s clients include The Royal Bank of Scotland, Svenska Handelsbanken, Tesco, Lloyds Banking Group, Eurohypo AG, Barclays Bank and Thus.
