Barry McKeown joined Semple Fraser from housebuilder and property developer, Manorlane, in 2009, to head up the firm’s Residential Property Group.

Prior to working as Land Director at Manorlane, Barry was a Partner in a global law firm and has worked for a number of Scotland’s top law firms over the past 13 years.

His time at Manorlane provided Barry with a clear insight into the commercial aspects of running a property development business including site identification and appraisal, development of cashflows, and funding aspects which is invaluable in providing clients with sound, commercially-focused, legal advice in that sector.

Barry has a broad spectrum of expertise in all areas of real estate work with particular focus on the commercial development and housebuilding sectors. He has acted for landowners and property developers (both in private and public sector), funders, investors and tenants.  He has specific knowledge of complex residential and commercial development arrangements, including conditional contracts, option arrangements, joint ventures, leasing, property finance arrangements and lending, as well as tax efficient property structures and vehicles.
