Fiona joined Semple Fraser as a trainee in the environment and pollution team in 2006 and has worked exclusively as a specialist in waste renewables and environmental law ever since.
She has experience of advising on a wide range of issues, including end of waste, industrial and waste regulation and permitting, Best Available Techniques, contaminated land and remediation projects, WEEE, Zero Waste, energy from waste, EIA, renewable heat and electricity incentives, animal by-products, CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, EU Emissions Trading Scheme and REACH.
Fiona assists clients with regulatory advice and statutory appeals, bespoke commercial contracts, lobbying campaigns, strategic advice and business and project “future-proofing”. She has particular expertise in the field of EU renewable energy law and policy, and the interplay between this and law and policy on waste. Fiona also provides specialist support in corporate and property transactions.
Fiona is the editor of Semple Fraser's Environment Update, and also writes the monthly column for the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management Journal. She sits on the Scottish Renewables Bioenergy Work Group, and has presented at Semple Fraser’s Waste Conferences in Manchester, as well as for Envirolink.
