Vincent Brown is a qualified UK and EU lawyer, with a Master’s Degree with Distinction in EU Law. He is one of the leading and most experienced environment, waste and pollution specialists in Europe, having focused exclusively in this area for the past 15 years.

Described by the legal directories as a “talented expert with a well-established practice and impressive EU credentials”, Vincent heads up the firm’s Waste industry Group and is an accredited specialist in this field by the Law Society of Scotland.

Vincent has a long track record of advising and securing results for industrial corporations in high risk assignments across the whole spectrum of UK industry. He played the lead role in Semple Fraser’s groundbreaking victories for clients in the High Court and Court of Appeal on complex points of EU waste law as applied in the UK, and he also led Semple Fraser’s strategic advisory role for the European Commission in Brussels.

Under his leadership, Semple Fraser has for the past five years in succession been ranked sole number 1 Environmental Law practice in Scotland (Legal 500 and Chambers directories), as well as a ranking on a UK level.

Vincent is author of the legal textbook “Environmental Pollution Law & Commercial Transactions”. He is also currently Visiting Professor of Environmental Law at Strathclyde University, Glasgow, and is a regular presenter at industry conferences throughout the UK and abroad on topics such as hazardous waste, contaminated land, EU waste legislation and case law, pollution liability, the landfill directive and waste protocols.
